Publish source code of BabyMEF on CodePlex
I would really appreciate it if the source code of the BabySmash edition with MEF-Support (SmashPacks!) could be published on CodePlex (or sth similar).

create standard profiles for options based on baby age
some of the suggestions i have read sound like they would be good for older babies(discourage smashing) and some better for younger babies (play phonetic sound of letter). As more of this functionality gets added as an option I imagine the option screen will get overwhelming. It would be good to setup standard profiles that would set these based on the age of the baby playing.

Scripting Functionality to create new games from BabySmash
Make it so you can use IronRuby to script the BabySmash primitives. Then we could create ToddlerSmash and other more complex "Speak and Spell" type games via script.

Enable offline use
I don't leave my internet connection on during the day, but I still use my computer. Would like to be able to run baby smash in offline mode. My daughter loves it!

Use random shapes for mouse trails and scale the size to create depth.

Map the keypad numbers to real numbers.
Right now, keypad numbers show shapes
15 votesDoh! This is the numeric keypad? Do the regular numbers show numbers?

Keyboard softkeys still being passed through
Programmable keys (e.g. those extra buttons that automatically load your web browser, email and the like) are not being completely trapped by Baby Smash. BabySmash still correctly interprets them, however it does not block the commands tied to these keys from firing in the background.
The same applies for CAPS LOCK, NUM LOCK and SCROLL LOCK.
I'm using a MS Digital Media 3000 Keyboard (running the IntelliPoint 6 driver software) on Vista SP1.

Show Pictures and Match with Letters
Maching picture should be diplayed when pressing a Key e.g A for Ant

turn individual keys into musical notes so baby can make music/noise and learn cause and effect
I was surprised this option wasn't already available. Our 5 month old loves Baby Smash with laughter - not so much with speech - but I think introducing a musical element will make the appeal last longer and the program can grow with him. Until he figures out that a certain key makes a certain note, I am sure he will continue to smash away... but once he discovers the cause and effect, a whole new game will manifest.

Audio/visual feedback for touch screen devices
Watching video clips of Babysmash in use and nearly all the kids touch the screen - well I have a tablet laptop, it would be great to have the screen give feedback too
12 votesGreat idea! Does your tablet support touchscreen or are you giving the baby a pen?

Alt+Space sometimes works
Actually more of a bug report. In the latest babysmash (2008-09-19 with automatic update a couple of days ago) my baby and later I managed to hit Alt+Space in such a way that Title Bar menu appeared. Alt is right near the space and little smashers are so good at hitting adjacent keys...

Add the ability to change the exit key combination

Learn to spell
Have the app stored a custom list of words ie. their name and etc. So, if they typed it correctly they will hear some rewarding sounds.

Allow the mouse to create shapes
My son has requested that he be able to create shapes with the mouse circles.
He was trying to create a heart with the circles from the mouse trail but wasn't able to and he really wanted to be able to create hearts and other shapes with the mouse.

Hunt for the sound mode.
A special mode where all sounds are disabled except for one random key. Baby will accidently find it at some point and *may* be enticed to keep looking for it. *May* actually help with baby co-ordination (probably not) but could be fun to watch.

Disable special function keyboard keys
Most new keyboards have special multimedia function keys (to open the web homepage, start music player, calculator etc.). These are still operational and hitting them start all kind of things.

support dual monitors
add support so the movement works between monitors smoothly, you can move between now, just not carry mouse clicks through.
